Give $8 to tell the story of slavery in the United States

When I got home from a very fabulous dinner tonight, I saw this story on CNN.com.

Nothing like the news to bring you back to reality.

Bill Cosby and his wife Camille, have committed $1 million dollars to help build a museum in Virginia to tell the complete story of slavery in the US.

The museum is not only a place to reflect upon this dark time in our nation’s history, but also to promote a greater understanding of history and the effects of slavery (paraphrased from the website).

Cosby’s plea is for each American to give $8 to building this museum. I think that it is our duty to tell this story to future generations. As many holocaust memorials and the Jewish Museum in Berlin evoke the words, “Nie Wieder” so must we “Never Again”, in word or in deed, enslave our brothers and sisters on this earth. You can contribute at the link below.

Peat and I made a donation tonight and I wanted to share this with as many people as might be interested. I didn’t know about this museum until tonight, even though I had often wondered why we didn’t have something like this in our country to help people learn more about it.

Pass it on if you think more people should know.

Yours for liberty,
